To achieve the objectives set out, CLIMALACT will carry out the following activities:

A list of sustainability and climate indicators will be drawn up, associated with the different types of farms and value chains of the main products derived from milk production and the marketing channels from farm to table. These lists will be evaluated in focus groups made up of farmers, agricultural producers, researchers, political representatives and trade unions from Asturias and Galicia, as well as dairy companies, intermediaries, dairy product processors, marketers, distributors, consumers and administrative staff. The aim is to select the main farm idiotypes and value chains of the three main dairy products, together with the indicators that characterize them, determining the different actions that will enable an improvement in the sustainability of the farms associated with the CLIMALACT brand.
By unifying the data obtained, the economic, environmental and social sustainability indicators of the dairy agri-food chain in the study areas will be developed and analyzed by the different focus groups. An economic cost–benefit analysis will be carried out per hectare (farmers) and per product (processors and marketers), along with a life cycle analysis of the dairy agri-food system focused on carbon footprint and biodiversity, taking into account the different land uses and the carbon storage and accumulation rate in the soil, as well as an assessment of the social sustainability of farms and the value chain centered on job creation capacity, integration of women and young people, and rural revitalization, which will be categorized by idiotypes to define scenarios.
Based on the productive, environmental and social results of the different farm idiotypes and value chains, an integrated indicator will be developed that is easy to calculate, adapted to the study area, transparent and easy to interpret both by farmers and by members of the value chain and political stakeholders.

A protocol will be developed to calculate the carbon footprint and provide mechanisms to achieve climate neutrality, either through the reduction of emissions or the increase of carbon sequestration, according to the different farm idiotypes and value chains. An application will also be developed to analyze the main indicators associated with sustainability and climate neutrality in relation to the farm, the value chain and the agri-food system as a whole.
All the results obtained will be validated in a focus group, whose conclusions will make it possible to develop the final prototype for estimating the compliance index of the neutrality protocol and the conditions to be met by the brand, as well as the mechanisms that allow improvement of the integrated index and the neutrality of the dairy food system in order to achieve the CLIMALACT brand.
Taking into account the integrated indicators associated with certain practices of the dairy food system, a study will be carried out on the implementation of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) with regard to the development of eco-schemes and rural development programs under the CAP 2023–2027, with the aim of establishing policies that promote those practices which achieve better scores in the integrated sustainability indicator and the neutrality protocol, and therefore encourage the CLIMALACT brand in the two Autonomous Communities under study.

The dissemination plan will be divided into two blocks:
1. Communication and dissemination: This will consist of the preparation of materials and content, and the organization of activities for the presentation of the project, as well as information and dissemination of its progress with a more general approach, aimed both at the target sectors and at consumers and society as a whole.
2. Engagement and results transfer activities: Materials will be prepared and activities will be carried out specifically aimed at fostering the implementation in the sector of the innovative solutions developed during the execution of the project.
