CLIMALACT’s Participation in the Silleda Green Week

From June 4 to 7, CLIMALACT participated in the 48th edition of Galicia Green Week, held at the Feria Internacional de Galicia ABANCA exhibition center in Silleda. This event provided an excellent opportunity to present the project’s progress in a key setting for the agri-food and forestry sectors.

CLIMALACT was part of FEUGA’s exhibition space, where a total of 22 innovation projects related to rural development and sustainability were showcased at its stand. Thanks to this participation, we were able to raise awareness of our objectives, results, and innovative approach, as well as connect with other stakeholders in the sector and establish strategic synergies.

Our presence at Green Week helped strengthen CLIMALACT’s position as an initiative committed to the sustainable transformation of society, standing out for its active contribution to improving the sector.

We continue working to bring innovation to the territory, with the firm purpose of responding to current challenges and generating a real impact in rural communities.

CLIMALACT will participate in the 48th edition of Galicia Green Week

CLIMALACT will be present at the 48th edition of the Abanca National Fair Galicia Green Week, which will take place in Silleda from June 4 to 7. Considered one of the most important multisector events in northwestern Spain, the fair will bring together exhibitors from different countries and offer a varied program that combines professional activities—training and demonstrations—with leisure and outreach initiatives for the general public.

CLIMALACT’s presence will be coordinated through its partner FEUGA, at stand F13 in Pavilion 2, with the aim of showcasing its work in developing sustainability and quality indicators for livestock farming practices, ensuring viability and climate neutrality both on dairy farms and throughout their value chains.

Throughout the fair, the FEUGA team will answer any questions related to CLIMALACT, sharing its progress, objectives, and contribution to the agri-food and forestry sectors.

Climalact promotes sustainability with AGACA

As part of the Climalact Task Force’s outreach activities, we are presenting a new short video focusing on the involvement of one of our key partners: AGACA (Galician Association of Agri-Food Cooperatives).

This article highlights the key role played by AGACA within the project, particularly with regard to sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint in the dairy sector.

AGACA brings valuable analytical expertise to Climalact, drawing on its technical work in the field. Its teams visit over 2,000 dairy farms each year, enabling them to collect real-world data, gain first-hand insight into the state of the sector, and identify opportunities for improvement.

Thanks to this collaboration, the project is strengthening its knowledge base and making progress in identifying solutions that will drive the transition towards more efficient and environmentally friendly production models.

Sustainable Dairy Production and Adaptation to Climate Change: Climalact Operational Group Webinar

How can we move toward more sustainable and climate-responsible dairy production? This is the question addressed in the Climalact Operational Group‘s introductory webinar, an initiative designed to support dairy farms in adapting to climate change.

The session will explore how the development of protocols and indicators for sustainability and climate neutrality can serve as a key tool for improving the dairy sector’s environmental performance while maintaining its economic and productive viability.

The webinar features representatives from the organisations involved in the project, who explain the background, objectives and main areas of work of the Climalact Operational Group, as well as the project’s collaborative approach.

Campoastur and its role in the Climalact Operational Group

We’re starting the year by sharing knowledge and innovation in the agricultural and livestock sector. In this latest informative piece, we’ll be looking at the role of Campoastur is part of the Climalact Operational Group, a project aimed at promoting climate action in dairy production.

In this video, we explain what the project involves, what its objectives are, and how we are working to move towards a more sustainable production model that is committed to the environment.

The Campoastur cooperative is an Asturian agricultural and livestock cooperative, formed through a merger of cooperatives on 1 January 2013. It brings together more than 7,000 members, of whom 2,800 are farmers and livestock breeders specialising in the production of dairy and beef cattle, cider apples and Asturian broad beans, although there are also other, smaller-scale production activities among the members. The remaining members are classified as collaborators or consumers, purchasing goods from the shops and diesel supplies.

Campoastur’s main activities include the production of conventional and organic animal feed, the supply of livestock and agricultural products, the provision of services to farms, the marketing of members’ produce, the development of agricultural shops for rural areas, retail outlets, and the sale of fuel.

The CLIMALACT Operational Group held its Multi-stakeholder Focus Group in Rodeiro

On 17 December, Galician producers, representatives from the dairy sector and other key stakeholders gathered in Rodeiro (Pontevedra) to take part in a multi-stakeholder focus group as part of the CLIMALACT project. The event provided an opportunity to gather experiences and views directly from farms, encouraging participation and guiding the development of sustainability criteria tailored to the local area.

This meeting followed the focus group held in March in Vegadeo (Asturias), the findings of which had served as the basis for designing protocols for management, efficiency and climate neutrality tailored to different farming models.


Thanks to a range of interactive sessions and activities in which participants were able to share their views on the various aspects and challenges facing the sector, it was possible to gather representative data on Galician farms and to analyse and compare different production models. In addition, opportunities were identified to improve efficiency and reduce reliance on external inputs, potential avenues for diversifying production were identified, and collaboration between livestock farmers, cooperatives and advisers was strengthened.

A crucial day that confirms that the sector’s active involvement is essential for moving towards a sustainable, transparent and climate-neutral dairy model, with solutions tailored to local conditions.

CLIMALACT attends the closing event of the European AF4EU project

On Friday 12th, the CLIMALACT Operational Group, coordinated by FEUGA, took part in the regional meeting of the Regional Agroforestry Innovation Network (RAIN) as part of the European AF4EU project, led by the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC)

This event marked the culmination of three years of work and collaboration between partners from 10 European countries, with the aim of promoting agroforestry through innovative business models and strengthening extension services across Europe.

During the event, CLIMALACT presented its objectives, progress and initial findings, contributing to the exchange of knowledge and experiences within the European agroforestry sector.

What is AF4EU?

AF4EU is a European initiative focused on promoting and strengthening agroforestry, a climate-smart agricultural model that intentionally integrates woody vegetation—such as trees and shrubs—with crop and/or livestock systems, in order to capitalise on the ecological and economic interactions that arise between them. This approach helps to improve the sustainability, climate resilience and profitability of farms

The project builds on the excellent results achieved by its predecessor, AFINET, which succeeded in engaging more than 1,300 unique stakeholders in the sector and produced a wide range of technical and informational resources, including 12 innovation videos, 45 technical fact sheets, 30 technical articles and more than 100 summaries of best practices.

CLIMALACT is organising a Multi-stakeholder Focus Group on 17 December in Rodeiro

The CLIMALACT Operational Group continues to make steady progress in developing a comprehensive on-farm management protocol that promotes sustainability and moves towards climate neutrality.

Following the meeting held in Vegadeo last March, we are resuming our collective work with a new Multi-stakeholder Focus Group, which will take place on 17 December in Rodeiro (Pontevedra). This session will build on the reflections, needs and proposals gathered at the first meeting, broadening our perspective to encompass the reality of Galician farms.

On this occasion, we will bring together livestock farmers from Galicia, representing intensive, semi-extensive, semi-intensive and extensive production systems, alongside other key stakeholders in the sector.

The purpose of the meeting is to jointly analyse the farms and the value chain of the Galician dairy system, identifying production, social and environmental indicators that will guide the path towards a more sustainable model.

CLIMALACT to participate in the Regional Agroforestry Innovation Network (RAIN) meeting

On 12 December, CLIMALACT will take part in the regional meeting of the Regional Agroforestry Innovation Network (RAIN), to be held at the FEUGA headquarters in Santiago de Compostela, as part of the European AF4EU project, led by the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). This event will mark the conclusion of three years of collaboration with organisations from 10 European countries, consolidating a key platform for the transfer of knowledge in agroforestry and sustainability.

During the conference, CLIMALACT will give a technical presentation on the project, outlining its objectives, methodological approach and results achieved to date. This presentation will demonstrate the working group’s potential in climate mitigation and the sustainable use of agricultural and livestock resources, whilst strengthening its position within the European agroforestry innovation ecosystem.

Participation in this event represents a strategic opportunity to raise the profile of CLIMALACT’s work, share lessons learnt with other stakeholders in the sector and generate new synergies geared towards innovation, whilst reinforcing the project’s commitment to applied research and the integration of sustainable solutions within the region.

CLIMALACT continues to make progress in the sustainable transformation of rural areas, with the aim of providing knowledge, promoting good practices and generating a tangible impact on communities linked to the agroforestry sector.

On 5 and 6 June, CLIMALACT took part in the 47th edition of Galicia Green Week, held at the ABANCA Galicia International Fairgrounds in Silleda. This event provided an excellent opportunity to present the project’s progress in a key setting for the agri-food and forestry sectors.

CLIMALACT was part of the FEUGA exhibition area, where a total of 16 innovation projects related to rural development and sustainability were showcased. Thanks to our participation, we were able to raise awareness of our objectives, results and innovative approach, as well as connect with other stakeholders in the sector and establish strategic partnerships.
